What is Pilates?
Designed to improve physical fitness, the practise of Pilates was developed in the early 1900s by Joseph Pilates, who described his technique as
"A complete coordination of body, mind and spirit"
Pilates works with the body to strengthen the core, mobilise the spine and tone the abdomen, torso, and back whilst incorporating slow breathing to energise the body.
Regular Pilates classes can improve your posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieving stress and tension, resulting in a body that is properly aligned and at less risk of injury.
As a non-impact, non weight bearing technique, Pilates can also help to prevent osteoporosis.
My Pilates classes are suitable for men and women of all ages and abilities, and I ensure that specific needs and concerns are addressed throughout.
